Coaching

Our approach to coaching and performance enhancement is underlined by the principles of humanistic psychology. We believe in the development and maintenance of working relationships in which we can be empathetic, but also challenging. This, we believe is a basic building block of effective performance coaching.
Programmes and interventions
At Sportinmind, we believe that the body, emotions and mind work as one. So our approach to team and individual psychology is holistic and flexible.
We design individualised interventions by:
- Identifying individual needs and tailoring appropriate interventions.
- Incorporating psychological principles into team development.
- Modelling and refining coaching, communication and leadership skills.

- Using systemic psychological principles to encourage team cohesion.
- Working with presenting problems including: injury recovery, performance anxiety, depression, stress-related problems and career transformation.
- Initiating and co-ordinating group programmes including assertiveness, cognitive re-structuring, management of stress, anxiety and anger, effective interpersonal communication and reflective practice.
- Working flexibly in multi-disciplinary teams (with coaches, business leaders and managers and other professionals).
- Specialist 12-week programmes developing mental strength and resilience for performance.
- When working with teams, whether in sport or business, we prefer to conduct needs analysis, followed by a team day and regular follow-up support.
